In 2024, Monday Night RAW has had a knack for pulling off intriguing non-title storylines which have carried importance, been unique, and done well to not only create stars but to bring momentum back to individuals who have struggled in recent times. When this year began, The New Day were quite possibly at their lowest in terms of momentum and standing on the roster, looking like a forgotten act who were well on their way to becoming glorified jobbers. However, a storyline began for the act which fans didn’t take to at first, but with perseverance and patience, it has steadily become one of the best parts of the red brand.
Karrion Kross’ Feud With The New Day Started Off Poorly
WWE Fans Didn’t Care For This Lower Card Raw Rivalry
- Karrion Kross began to create cracks in The New Day.
- This felt like a forced way to break up The New Day.
- Kross’ feuds have been pretty forgettable over the last couple of years.
When The New Day began a feud with Karrion Kross and The Final Testament, it very much felt like they were all being thrown together for the sake of them having nothing else to do. Karrion Kross’ feuds since his return have been pretty lackluster, so it was a rinse and repeat of Kross trying to turn individuals to the dark side. Fans were very much against this feud at first, especially because The New Day had been booked awfully over the last year and hadn’t procured any sort of momentum since Triple H took over the WWE creative team.

The feud was very much an afterthought at first, not getting much screen time, with perhaps a quick match here and there or a forgettable backstage segment. The feud continued to steadily develop though, with Kross adding doubt into the mind of Xavier Woods over his own career and the future of their tag team. In all fairness to Kross, this is the most natural he has looked in promos since his comeback, and this was matched with good performances from both Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston.
Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston Have Put In Some Brilliant Character Performances
The New Day Have Sold The Story Between Them
- Xavier Woods has gradually drifted to the dark side.
- The dynamic between The New Day has been told well with strong character work.
- Despite hurdles, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston have kept the story on the right path.
The plot of The New Day breaking up was something no one wanted to see, and it led to it feeling like a dreadful, forced angle. However, the performances of both Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston have sold the story and made it one of the most enthralling things on RAW. It took a while to get going, but with increased TV time, the dissent between Woods and Kingston has been enjoyable to watch. Their cracks have felt natural, explained, and both men have felt justified in their own points of view and actions.

The introduction of Odyssey Jones was an interesting development, and it saw Woods believe that Kingston was trying to replace Big E, with the notion that the pair of them were not good enough on their own. This reflects their real life momentum since Big E’s absence, so this blurring of fiction and reality was a good way to capitalize on their poor booking and turn it into something positive. Jones’ release threatened to turn this storyline on its head, but WWE managed to pivot and use the LWO as Kingston’s allies instead, continuing this story without a stutter or looking back. Woods’ performances in particular have been stellar, and he has elevated the storyline further.
Fans Are Intrigued About The Multiple Roads The New Day’s Storyline Can Take
The Story Between Xavier Woods And Kofi Kingston Is Unpredictable
- Big E could return to save The New Day.
- Xavier Woods could turn heel and finally get a singles push.
- The New Day could claw their way back to tag team title contention.
One of the biggest reasons as to why this storyline has developed so well and is now one of the best in WWE is due to the unpredictability of it. It could take several directions going forwards, which is why fans will tune in every week to see what the next chapter will be. Woods could turn heel and betray Kingston, giving him something new to do, and whilst this was something frowned upon at first, his performances have convinced people that it would work, which is a testament to the quality of his character development and mic skills.

The story could take a positive turn. The return of Big E either as a competitor or even as a peacemaker and manager could be an avenue that WWE goes down, bringing Kingston and Woods back together and pushing them up the card towards the World Tag Team Championships. The New Day would be a good choice to take the titles from Finn Balor and JD McDonagh, and it feels like their momentum as an act is building throughout this storyline to the point where they are big enough deals to be champions again - something which hasn’t been the case for quite some time.
